Matei (Subwarden, First floor)
Welcome to Selkirk Hall. My name is Matei, and I am going into the 3rd Year of my PhD in generative design for thermal management systems. Having walked the halls of Imperial College London since 2018 as a student myself, I understand the unique blend of ambition and friendship that defines life within the campus.
I hope that you’ll find Selkirk to be more than just a place to rest your head – we are a dynamic community committed to fostering an atmosphere of mutual support and growth. Whether you have questions, ideas to share, or simply want to chat, I’m always here and eager to engage in casual conversations.
My passions include street photography, collecting records and sports. I also enjoy though-provoking discussions and reading history books.
Don’t forget that the journey is the reward and that we’re all here to walk you through the first steps of your uni life. I wish you all the very best in your first year at Imperial.
Beatrice (Subwarden, Second floor)
Hi! I’m Beatrice and I am currently starting the 3rd year of my PhD in Biomedical Engineering. I have been in Imperial since 2016 and lived in Princes Gardens as a fresher too. I know how it feels to move to a new country and to suddenly be independent so I am happy to help you navigate it and give you tips on how to focus on both enjoying London and achieving your uni goals. There is so much you can explore in the city and so much you can get out of your course and the societies here. I think you will have a great time!
Outside uni, I love skiing and snowboarding the most, but sadly that is seasonal (or indoors which is not the same). I am also a big F1 fan and have an interest in architecture. You might also find me in art museums or theatres sometimes.
I hope you will feel like home in Selkirk and make some great lasting friendships here. I am looking forward to meeting you all!
Carlos (Subwarden, Fourth floor)
Hi everyone, and welcome to Imperial and Selkirk hall! My name is Carlos, and I am in the third year of my Ph.D. working on market design for low-carbon energy systems in the department of electrical engineering. I am from Chile, a long and narrow country in South America. I was born and raised in Santiago, the capital of reggaeton streaming.
I love playing drums, listening to music, and reading good books. I also enjoy swimming and running in my free time.
Imperial is a great place to meet new people and to join different societies. We are here to help you in this challenge, so don’t hesitate to come to see me for a chat. I am looking forward to meeting you all. I wish you the best in this first year!
Nicolas (Warden, Fifth Floor)
Welcome to Selkirk Hall: a community first of all.
I am here to walk with you through your stay in this magic place, to help and support your needs and most of all to get to know each of you, with your unique background and lived stories.
I have been here at Imperial College for 20 years and always considered this place terrific. I am teaching within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, fun subjects such as Computing, Mechatronics and Robotics, enjoying interacting with students.
I love swimming, music and long walks.
Feel free to knock at my door for any issue, question or just for a talk.
