Welcome to Selkirk Hall. My name is Matei, and I am going into the 3rd Year of my PhD in generative design for thermal management systems. Having walked the halls of Imperial College London since 2018 as a student myself, I understand the unique blend of ambition and friendship that defines life within the campus.
I hope that you’ll find Selkirk to be more than just a place to rest your head – we are a dynamic community committed to fostering an atmosphere of mutual support and growth. Whether you have questions, ideas to share, or simply want to chat, I’m always here and eager to engage in casual conversations.
My passions include street photography, collecting records and sports. I also enjoy though-provoking discussions and reading history books.

Hello everyone, I’m excited to join the Selkirk community!
My name is Sandra, and I’m a first-year PhD student at the School of Public Health, focusing on the connection between the environment and human health.
I was born in Lithuania, grew up in Italy, and moved to the UK over a decade ago. I consider all three places my home and love talking about travel, food, and fun weekend activities that can be done in different places around the world.
I enjoy a variety of sports (though I can’t say I’m particularly skilled at any), with a special fondness for climbing and yoga.
Lastly, I’m quite proud of my tea collection—so feel free to join me for a cup of tea and a chat anytime! 😊
Ksenia (Subwarden, Fourth floor)
Hi everyone, and welcome to Imperial!
My name is Ksenia, and I am just starting a PhD investigating the intracellular lifestyle of S. aureus in the Department of Life Sciences. I grew up in Tallinn, Estonia, a place known for its delicious chocolate and beautiful hiking trails. I am very excited to be part of the Selkirk community and hope we can make this a great year for everyone.
In my free time, I enjoy drawing, playing video and board games and going for runs. This is my 5th year at Imperial, and I hope your time here will be as rewarding and supportive as mine has been. If you have any questions about navigating this new chapter, or simply want to chat, don’t hesitate to drop by!

Welcome to Selkirk Hall: a community first of all.
I am here to walk with you through your stay in this magic place, to help and support your needs and most of all to get to know each of you, with your unique background and lived stories.
I have been here at Imperial for 23 years and always considered this place terrific. I am teaching within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, fun subjects such as Computing, Mechatronics and Robotics, enjoying interacting with students.
I love swimming, music and long walks.
